Choosing a worker

Explore candidate profiles on the FOREIGN WORKERS platform and select the people you consider suitable for the positions in your business.

We then convey your job offer to the selected candidates, who decide whether to accept it and commit to coming to Greece for that specific job, in accordance with the law.

Deposit, file preparation and recruitment application

Once the selection is final, the employer signs the required employment contract in accordance with Greek labour law.

The employer also signs a service agreement with FOREIGN WORKERS ΜΟΝΟΠΡΟΣΩΠΗ ΙΚΕ, a private employment agency licensed by the Ministry of Labour, and pays a deposit of 50% of the agreed service fee.

The employer sends us the necessary supporting documents and, through the Ministry of Migration platform, authorises the cooperating lawyer who will submit and manage the recruitment application with the competent authority.

Estimated approval time: 2–7 weeks, depending on the region, workload and operation of the competent authority.

Work visa and accommodation

While the recruitment approval is pending, our team prepares workers for their national entry visa application (work visa), which they submit in person to the competent Greek consular authority.

Candidates must provide the required medical certificates and criminal record so that compliance with the applicable requirements can be checked. The final decision to issue or refuse a visa rests exclusively with the competent consular authority.

Estimated visa processing time: 1 week to 4 months after recruitment approval, depending on the country, workload and operation of the consulate.

At the same time, where needed, we look for suitable accommodation at no additional service charge, in consultation with the employer and workers, taking the workplace and working conditions into account.

Common options include renting a shared apartment or legally installing a fully equipped portable home on the employer’s property. The employer covers the cost of accommodation.

Travel, arrival and payment of the balance

After the visa is issued, we coordinate the worker’s travel with the employer and guide the employer through booking the flight.

We welcome the worker at Athens airport and help make their first experience of Greece a pleasant one, with a tour of well-known sights in the capital.

We also help them obtain a Greek SIM card and arrange onward travel by public transport or another suitable means to their final place of residence and work.

Once the worker has successfully arrived, the employer pays the remaining 50% of the agreed service fee.

Residence permit, AFM, AMKA and AMA

After arrival, our authorised representative submits and monitors the residence permit application for the relevant purpose of employment.

The certificate confirming submission of the residence permit application is usually issued within 3–7 working days of submission. It certifies that the application is pending and allows the worker to remain legally in Greece, with the rights applicable to their case, until a decision is issued.

We then arrange the issue of a tax identification number (AFM), TAXISnet activation key, social security number (AMKA) and insured person’s registration number (AMA). These procedures usually take around 2 weeks.

Once the necessary procedures are complete, the employer proceeds with the worker’s lawful hiring and employment under the signed contract, paying the required wages and social insurance contributions.

On request, we can also arrange an appointment to open a bank account at a bank chosen by the employer and worker. The worker must attend in person to open the account.
